USAID Supports Energy Efficient Street Lighting in Bandung, Indonesia
With support from USAID’s Private Financing Advisory Network-Asia (PFAN-Asia), the City of Bandung, Indonesia is procuring US$10 million in state-of-the-art, energy efficient LED street lighting to expand the city’s lighting coverage. PFAN-Asia, in collaboration with Sebelas Maret University, will assist with a feasibility study to support draft regulation on the procurement of LED street lighting. Previously, PFAN-Asia also helped the city perform preliminary research, observe a demonstration project, as well as organize a workshop for key stakeholders to explore the benefits of LED lighting, various transaction structures, and other regulatory elements. As next steps, PFAN-Asia in discussion with US OPIC and local bank lenders on debt financing and with a lighting and control systems vendor to provide equipment financing.
